BryOnda A. Collins currently serves as the Vice President at Chambers Funeral Home, Inc. where she is part of a fifth family generation legacy in funeral service. She has been working in funeral service since the young age of fifteen and is as passionate and dedicated to servicing the community as the generations that preceded her. Mrs. Collins graduated from the Funeral Service Education Program with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Funeral Service Education in 1997 and is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. She maintains a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Operations Management. She is active in her state funeral service association, Alabama Funeral Directors & Morticians Association, Inc. where she has served as Assistant Recording Secretary, and on several committees, such as Chairperson of the Time & Place Committee and Uniform Committee. BryOnda served as an Adjunct Professor at Jefferson State Community College in the Funeral Service Education Program and currently serves on the board with the Bessemer Chamber of Commerce. BryOnda is happily married to Zachary T. Collins, Sr. and is the proud parent of son, Rickney Bryonne, and daughter, Courtney Bria-Brielle. She is a member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama under the leadership of Reverend William H. Walker, Sr.
Rickney Bryonne Hunter, an active part of the fifth generation, is the son of proud parents BryOnda A. Collins and Rickey L. Hunter, Jr. Rickney graduated from the Funeral Service Education Program at Jefferson State Community College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Funeral Service Education. He is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer and holds licensure with the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Board. He proudly serves in the United States Air Force and currently, he is pursuing a degree in Engineering at Alabama A&M University.
Eric Fuller born in Birmingham, raised in Bessemer, Alabama is a graduate of Jess Lanier High School. He attended Alabama State University before accepting his career job as a firefighter for the city of Bessemer where he also became a licensed paramedic. Currently, Eric serves as Lieutenant, Position Fire Inspector and is the city’s first and only Nationally Certified Fire Investigator. Eric obtained his associates degree in Fire Science from Lawson State Community College, associate’s degree in Funeral Service Education from Jefferson State Community College, and Bachelor’s degree in Public Safety & Health Administration from Athens State University. Eric, a dual licensed funeral director and embalmer, holds his licensure with the International Conference. He has been happily married to his wife, Natalie Tinker Fuller, for eighteen years and they have two children: Erin, 16 and Nathan, 13. Eric is a proud and active member of Faith Chapel Christian Center where he serves as TV production camera operator, a member of the host team ministry, and a host for the Life Group Ministry.
David Bell has been servicing the Bessemer community for over 65 years. He is a graduate of Birmingham Baptist Bible College and one of the first blacks to graduate from Bessemer Technical Institute. Later, he matriculated to Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana where he obtained his Masters Degree. Mr. Bell enlisted in the United State Marine Corp and served in the Vietnam War 1968-1969. Upon returning home, he worked at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School. During his 35-year tenure he served as a teacher, coach and the school’s first black principal. Mr. Bell, a licensed funeral director, has served with Chambers Funeral Home for over 45 years. He is also the Superintendent of Porter Chapel & has been the Chairman of the Trustee board for 65 years. He is happily married to Barbara Kelly Bell. They are the proud parents of three daughters, one deceased Yvette Ash O’Neal, one son and six grandchildren.
Frederick Gene Dudley has been a part of the Chambers Funeral Home family for over 30 years. Mr. Dudley is a native of Bessemer, Alabama where he was educated through the Bessemer City School system, graduating from Dunbar High School in 1956. He is a graduate of Tuskegee Institute with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. While at Tuskegee, Mr. Dudley was captain of the football team, a member of the basketball team and received academic honors as well. He went on to receive his Master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). After relocating to Bessemer, Mr. Dudley worked as a classroom teacher, head football coach, basketball coach, track coach and athletic director. Later in his career, he was promoted to the position of Director of Attendance and Security and Executive assistant to the Superintendent. He retired in 2004, with over 40 years of service. After retirement, Mr. Dudley worked as a consultant in discipline at Jess Lanier High School. He also worked with the City of Bessemer Recreation Department over 40 years where he organized the youth and men basketball leagues, provided free lunches through the summer feeding program and created jobs for students and adults in conjunction with JCCEO. Mr. Dudley has received many honors and awards such as: Alabama High School Coach of the Year, First black official to officiate in the Alabama state basketball tournament and all-star game, President of the Education Association of Bessemer, Leadership Award from the State Department of Education, and Bessemer City Schools High School Teacher of the Year. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and was inducted into the Tuskegee Hall of Fame for Football in 1997. Mr. Dudley has been happily married to Katherine Zander Dudley for 50 years. They have two children: Fred, II and Fanchon. They also have five grandchildren; Nayirah, Will, Asad, Chloe and Samad.
